Where The Story Leads Us

Where The Story Leads Us

Have you ever had a hunger so intense that simple meals just won’t satisfy? That’s how I felt after finishing reading through the Bible for the first time. My hunger for God’s Word wasn’t satisfied. I became more curious about the Bible than ever before. Looking back, my curiosity was God-given, because when you read His word, He changes your heart.

For my summer break that year, I ordered a 10-week bible/video study of John’s letters. What I expected was that my questions would be answered, and my knowledge would grow. What I didn’t expect was how God would meet me where I was. He began changing my thoughts and actions. My family noticed. Yet the more I dug in, the more it became clear that true Christian growth doesn’t happen in isolation. We needed more connection.

First, my husband joined a men’s group. Next, our family committed to Saturday night services and I went to a grief support group. Finally my husband and I joined a support group together. We were welcomed warmly, affirmed in our giftings, and asked to lead a life group which met later that spring. When the group wanted to continue into fall, “The Story” study group for women was formed.

Now as a group, we share a love for digging into God’s Word. We summarize our readings, share our impressions, and discover together how His plan and character are revealed in the passages we’ve read. With several weeks left in “The Story”, we are looking forward to where God takes us and how He will continue changing our hearts.
