Titus

The church, and the way of Jesus, is counter cultural, and always has been. The teachings of Jesus have a hard time lining up with the way of the world, we know this, but it is not just a new era sort of thing.

The book of Titus was written by the apostle Paul, to his ministry apprentice Titus, who was put in charge of leading the house churches on the island of Crete – which just so happened to be at the epicentre for the worship of the Greek gods.

Titus’ challenge was 2-fold – help the people see Jesus as the one true God, the better God, the God worth following, and helping the church folk live in such a way that their lives reflected the grace, and love and power of the gospel. Sounds a lot like our challenge as churches today!
