CEASE -The Centre to End all Sexual Exploitation (Cease) works primarily with women in the sex industry in Edmonton. They offer support with counselling, finances, and employment and the justice system. In Fall 2016 we started partnering with them to support a few of their women through our Compassion Fund.

Compassion Assistance - The Compassion Fund exists to serve those both inside and outside our church community who are in financial need. There is a process to applying for this funding and parameters exist on the types of needs this fund can cover.
Leadership of this fund includes ensuring the care and control of the funds used across the various initiatives. A large portion of this fund is used on a weekly basis with walk-in individuals and families seeking help with bill payments and gift cards for meals. However, many of the Outreach initiatives are also funded from the Compassion Fund which accounts for a large portion of the Outreach ministry at SPAC.

Mustard Seed - SPAC has been in partnership with The Mustard Seed for 10+ years. We help provide one evening meal per month at their main location. There are teams of people from SPAC assembled to buy the groceries and start the prep of these meals during the lunch hour. Then student teams from SCA bring and serve the meal downtown in the evening.
The Neighbour Centre is also a part of the Mustard Seed Organization. Our students in Youth Ministry have done various item drives as a practical way to have On-Site (Grade 7-8) students serving. As well, we continue to remain in conversations about funding the Neighbour Centre’s Dinner Club program.

PALM – PALM reaches those who are new to Canada coming from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. They have a focus towards reaching those from a Muslim background as God has placed this people group on their hearts. Building relationships with everyone who enters their doors is important to them as well as assisting with practical needs.
SPAC has been involved with PALM for many years and has been a part of several initiatives. Previously, SPAC has gave for the upkeep of their building. There is a core team of committed volunteers involved mostly in the English programming as well as with their homework club.

Prison Ministries – We work with a couple of different individuals who are involved in Prison Ministry and this connect enables us to resource and aid those individuals who are working on the “front lines” in this serving area and provides us with connection points for others within SPAC who might be looking to serve within a prison setting. We are currently involved in multiple institutions.

Saddle Lake – This is a partnership with Sawanegezhik Academy of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation and is primarily facilitated by our school, Strathcona Christian Academy. Together all three groups work to identify ways we can support one another as we work towards the development of families within both Saddle Lake and SPAC/SCA.

Salvation Army – The Salvation Army supports women and families in need of assistance.  This often takes the form of financial assistance - whether its grocery cards or assistance with some bill payments.  Individuals are then referred to our Compassion Assistance Program.

Strathcona County - Our involvement with the Strathcona County Ministerial has led to new connections with Family and Community Services here in Sherwood Park. It has been a great way to have their staff become aware of the assistance we can provide both financially and relationally through various programs at Sherwood Park Alliance. These partnerships allow us to direct a significant portion of funds from the Compassion Fund towards a ministry which meets people in seasons of transition before they turn into seasons of long-term crisis due to lack of safe and affordable housing.

We Care – We Care is an outreach/compassion ministry in downtown Edmonton. Every Sunday “church” happens in a downtown parking lot. There are various stations set up to help support some of the practical needs in this community (bagged lunches, coffee, clothing, prayer, etc.). Building relationships is also a key part of this ministry and volunteers and community members share life together not just in the hour of We Care but during the week as well.
